Trader consensus prices AfD at overwhelming odds to emerge as the strongest party in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's Landtagswahl on September 20, 2026, reflecting consistent Sonntagsfragen leads of 34-37% in the latest March INSA and February Forsa polls, doubling its 2021 result amid fragmented opposition under proportional representation. The governing SPD under Ministerpräsidentin Manuela Schwesig has slid to 23-26%, hampered by economic discontent and migration concerns boosting AfD in this eastern state. Recent PolitPro trends show minor AfD softening offset by SPD gains, yet no shift erodes the lead; late scandals, endorsements, or turnout swings could still alter outcomes despite the firewall barring AfD coalitions.
